Michael Violette’s career took an unexpected turn while serving as Registrar at Augusta Technical College. Although he started with a background in higher education, earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Connecticut, it was the technical concepts in Augusta Tech’s Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology program that sparked a new interest. Inspired, Michael completed an Associate of Applied Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology in 2017 and transitioned to a hands-on role at the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site. Over seven years, he advanced from Electrical & Instrumentation Mechanic to Group Manager of the Electrical Shops Organization, even earning a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University along the way. Today, as the Site Services Human Capital Manager, Michael oversees the development of a 600-person division. He credits Augusta Tech with helping him discover a new direction and a fulfilling career.
